Ich recherchierte Howard Böll auf Deutsch. There are some cool sites, like wikipedia, that let you change the language of the site. Auch Ich habe ein wenig auf Deutsch gelest. Howard Böll war ein Schriftsteller, einen WW2 Veteran, und ein Nobelpreisträger. He was born and raised in Cologne by a liberal, Catholic family, and later refused to join the Hitler Youth. He was then conscripted into the Wehrmacht and made to fight. The Americans captured him and put him into a P.O.W. camp. After the war, he began writing his first novel and released it in 1949. He was the first German to be awarded a Nobel Prize in Literature since Thomas Mann in 1929. I read the first few pages of Billiards um Halbzehn and realized that i was in way over my head, as i could only understand a few words. So i decided i'll read it in English first, because it seems like an incredibly good book. Also, i realized while reading the wiki article in both English and German that the English article was a lot smaller and left out a lot that the German article included.
