AMD 5&6 - Schlussmacher

There are a good number of foreign films on Netflix so I decided to watch Schlussmacher. Es war ein lustiger Film! It was pretty similar to any American RomCom type of film. It was pretty easy to understand when they were speaking slowly (not arguing) and there were some very German moments in it. It's über ein Mann who breaks up couples for the business "Happy Ending." If you want to break up with your partner you hire a man from the company to go talk to your significant other so you don't have to deal with their emotions and get tempted to get back together. One of the ex's follows the main character around because he wants to get back with his girlfriend and this leads to a reluctant partnership when the main man loses his car after driving drunk and he needs someone to drive him so he can continue to work.

Sehr Deutsche Dinge:

• A man gives a pretty girl his train ticket because she forgot hers. He makes a break for it but is caught by the ticket punchers. It's a pretty big deal to just get on the train without a ticket there so it shows how powerful his love is for her.
• Policemen eat sausage instead of donuts
• A hotel employee has a strong Hessian accent
• One of the characters isn't able to show up on time because he thought he was supposed to be in Frankfurt Oder when they were supposed to meet in Frankfurt am Main
• German ladies who can hold their Vodka
• The hotel employee assumes they won't need late check-out because they're from Berlin

Englisch Dinge:

• Company actually called "Happy End" in English
• The phrase "safety first!"
• Singing "Love is in the Air" and making up words he doesn't know
